Authors Dan Werb and Nadja Lubiw-Hazard explore the complex connections between humans and the animal kingdom. Werb, a Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize winner, draws on his background in epidemiology to uncover the hidden lives of urban synanthropes-the rabbits, squirrels, and foxes that roam our city streets-in Our Wild Familiars. Meanwhile, fiction serves as the vehicle for real-life veterinarian Lubiw-Hazard whose debut story collection, The Life of a Creature, reveals how our fellow creatures help us navigate shared environments, love, loss, and healing.
